A better role or way of working

Does this sound familiar?

  • I’m ready for more responsibility or a new challenge, but I’m not sure how to move forward.
  • I don’t feel my contribution is recognised or valued.
  • I like parts of my job, but my workload or working arrangements need to change.
  • A difficult experience at work has knocked my confidence.
  • I want to do my job well without it taking up all my time and energy.

How I can help

Wanting more from work doesn’t always mean leaving. Sometimes the job itself is fine, but the workload, the recognition or the next step isn’t.

One client came to me worn down by an organisation whose values didn’t match her own. Partway through our work, she was made redundant. Instead of seeing it as failure, she used it: she now has a part-time role that pays the bills and gives her time to build her own creative business.

Whether you’re focused on career progression, want to feel more valued or need to make work more manageable, I’ll help you work out what needs to change, put what you contribute into words and decide how to take it forward.

What you’ll achieve

A clear next career move

Decide what you’re aiming for: promotion, a better role or changes in your current job.

"Key breakthroughs that Jess helped me understand were that rather than having to find a new job, I could shape the one that I had to focus more on the things that I felt I was good at and that offered room for growth and challenge."

Explain your contribution clearly

Be ready to talk about what you bring in applications and in conversations about progression, pay or responsibilities.

“Jess helped me look closely at the work I’d done, recognise where I’d made a difference and find the words to describe it. That gave me much more confidence in speaking about what I could bring to a new role, and I went on to secure a promotion.”

A sustainable working life

Identify the workload, boundaries or working arrangements that would make work more manageable.

"Jess asked thoughtful questions that helped me think more deeply about what I wanted, what my boundaries were, and how I could communicate them effectively."
