Job application and interview coaching
Does this sound familiar?
- I know what I want, but my applications are going nowhere.
- I struggle to explain the value of my experience.
- I have not applied for a job in years and no longer know what employers expect.
- I am changing sector and cannot see how to present my transferable skills.
- I reach interviews but cannot communicate confidently under pressure.
How I can help
When you’re used to doing your job, it can be surprisingly difficult to explain what makes you good at it. You might find yourself thinking, “But isn’t that just what everyone does?”
You might say you’re good at bringing people on board. When I ask how, you explain how you notice what matters to different people, understand their reservations and involve them in finding a way forward. To you, that may feel like simply doing your job. Yet you’ve just described how you build the trust that helps a team make a difficult change. Someone else might tackle that same situation very differently. The choices you make reveal something important about how you work.
My role is to listen for those details and ask the questions that help you recognise what you’re doing and why it works. Together, we find the words and examples that make your approach clear, so an employer can understand how you would contribute and the difference you could make.
We then practise putting that into words on paper or in an interview, focusing on the applications or opportunities you’re preparing for.
